23rd Thursday

Getting better :). Running late as always, the bus decided to come early so I missed it. Melbourne Central was having their VIP Day today, missed the treasure hunt (need to be there 9am) but it's ok cause my prediction is that last year's was better - there was cupcakes and fries.

Kiehl's had a pop-up area near the clock and was offering sample bags (they say it's worth $20 but I'll be doing the maths :P) with the condition that we do a 2-3min consultation. The catch? There's a line. We lined up for a bit over an hour. Was it worth it? No. Fortunately I had all my law books with me and got through one of them. The guy who did my consultation was very nice, not pushy at all. And he looked great - his skin that is, he said he's wearing their BB Cream and feels a bit gay. XD

There was two types of bag designs, I wonder if they have different samples in them.
Didn't ask though as the girls at the counter weren't friendly.

Deluxe Samples

Sachet Samples

Samples
Ultra Facial Oil-Free Toner 250ml/28.00 - 40ml/4.48
Rosa Arctica (Moisturizer) 50ml/84.00 - 7g/11.76
Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque (Night Cream) 125ml/48.00 - 7g/2.69
Fig Leaf & Sage EDT (Fragrance) 100ml/75.00 - 1.5ml/1.13
Creme de Corps (Body Cream) 250ml/38.00 - 5ml/0.76
Ultra Facial Cream (Moisturizer) 125ml/64.00 - 3ml/1.53
Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution (Serum) 50ml/85.00 - 1.5ml/2.55
24.90 surprisingly

We calculated the above used the unit price of the largest size they offer, unless it's a lot e.g. Creme the Corps comes in a 1L bottle. I like it when they tell me what the product actually is, cause 'Recovery Gel' to me doesn't make it catergorizable, as oppose to being told it's a serum.

IMO opinion you could have easily gotten the sachets for free depending on what you're wearing and which SA you get (boys are usually nicer), and the three pots/bottle are labeled as deluxe samples which you get when you buy something (though perhaps only online?). My favourite thing was the EDT, Figs, Helen's signature scent. I'd get it myself, except I still got four bottles on my shelf, and a couple in the cupboard.

Blueberry Cupcakes @ Jurlique

After that (an hour + later) we went to Jurlique to check out the competition they're running, random draw for $100+ purchases. Got recommendations and samples, and a blueberry cupcake. :) Store bought and then iced with buttercream.

Jurlique Samples

Next stop was Toni & Guy, a bit harder to get the goodie bag they're offering. Some people are less willing to give them out w/o purchase. Inside the tote bag was a book featuring Melbourne (?) bloggers with nice hair (including Violet le Beaux!) and a shampoo samples (decent size bottle) for dry hair.

Label M. Honey & Oat Conditioner

Stopped by Cocolatte (they sell cotton on-esque stuff, but slightly better) while most of their stuff isn't so great, their singlets are great and only 3.00 each. Though once I found an amazing red 60s style shift dress there.

On our way out we passed Crabtree & Evelyn to inquire about Evelyn Rose, their signature scent. It turns out that when they redesigned the packaging they also redid the scent. I really like the new scent, but not the old one which is musky and less rosey. While the woman helping me was very nice, the manager wasn't so nice. She doesn't like me, probably cause we had a voucher the last time I shopped there. Because of her I much prefer the Collins St store.

Last shop, 'The Body Shop' they had a random chance competition. After a hand spa treatment (cleanse, scrub, moisturize, perfume)  you get to pick a cupcake on a board. Under one there's a gold star, there was red velvet, chocolate and something with a dried banana slice on top. I suspect that it was the 3rd one that had the star, maybe. Anyway I went with my heart, chocolate. :P Buttercream. Perfect size, as I already had a cupcake today. Unfortunately by the time I found a place to take pictures I had lost most of the choc shavings, as they weren't stuck into the icing.

TBS was also doing a lucky dip, while I didn't get a clear shot of it I do believe the box was full of perfume samples. I saw pink and green in particular, picked the pink, which turned out to do a sample vial of 'Japanese Cherry Blossom'. I've seen this before but never had the opportunity to try it, as I don't shop at TBS (except for their xmas Cranberry products). I wonder how it compares to L'Occitane's version, which I really really like.

Two Cherry Blossoms

Another picture, just cause it's so pretty. :P

Lunch was next. Sushi. The prawn/avocado had soggy rice today. That's never happened before. Met Emily to get her library card (you can bring books into the law exam, just not your college's books, need to go to another one). Did some book scanning, fell asleep. Yes while scanning. Sleep walking mode couldn't read, instead we compared diagrams, that didn't make any sense. When I woke up I had scanned the entire book w/o reading it! Time to go home.

Did you go to the Shopping Festival at Melb Central last week? Or do the treasure hunt?

One Week till Exams - Missing Classes @ Wednesday, May 29, 2013

Wednesday

And I'm sick again. Day 6. :( Must be all the exam stress. Unproductivity 80%. Created a long to-do list. Attempted to download work, but the website is down. Missed mr mob's lec, which I always look forwards to, and yet miss half the time. :(

Mr events emailed me to say the cupcake was very nice :) Sent at 7am O.o too early for work (other than in events :P). Also got an email saying I won Downton Abbey Season 3 on DVD! :) Can't recall last time I watched a dvd, everything's online.

This week would be two months since le beau left me. :( I miss him so much. Been sick for about the last 4wks, with it getting worse last week. Some days it's not as bad. Is it possible I'm dying from a broken heart? I had a dream where I gave mr IT a queen of hearts card to pass onto Austin when I'm gone. The significance of that is that my business cards are printed on the back of playing cards.

Thursday
Shopping at Melb Central. Kiehl's samplings. Cupcakes.
Posting coming up soon.

Friday
Stayed up late working on law reflections. Crashed and spent the day in a coma, didn't sleep the day before. Missed law :( which is one of those subjects if you missed a class you get very confused later on. Still got 3 of those to watch. New recording system doesn't allow downloads and records audio only. :(

Saturday
Slept in, but arrived just in time for my scene. Freaking out a little about the law book, today's goal is to watch and make notes on one lec. That didn't happen. One of the girls bought slices which was very nice, white choc & rasp. and choc espresso  :) I'm bringing cake on Wednesday. "drei kleine enten" sounds a lot like 'dry clean intern' XD.

Sunday
"She never amounted to anything." I was one of those strange kids who liked school, it was an escape from him. Another Sunday spent in bed, not sick. Got up at 9.30pm, even though I set my alarm on 9.30am. Had lots of adventure in my dreams. :) Sometimes I wished I could live in my dreams.

A couple weeks ago I bought a 24 cupcake carrier, from Kmart for 10.00 after reading a good review on it, and my summary is that it's great - if you're transporting it in a car. It's quite big and bulky as you'd expect? But it's very strong - I dropped it and it didn't crack or open up. I'd definitely recommend it, though personally I shall be looking for a small one, as I don't need to carry around that many cupcakes. The height's great though - if you frosted your cakes.

How do you transport your cupcakes?
Is there that one thing you always bring to class/work parties?

Chemist Warehouse is having a sale (as they often do :P) and we bought a couple things.. Sukin's Rose Hip Oil 50ml 20.00 + Facial Moisturizer (GWP) + Lip Treatment. By the way Batiste Dry Shampoo is on sale for 5.00.

Have you tried any RHOs?

A Basket of Cupcakes @ Tuesday, May 28, 2013

21st Tuesday May

A long day, I barely recall getting to school. Two months ago yesterday was our 3rd anniversary  Feeling sad this week, decided to come in costume today. In three days it'll be 2mths since le beau left me. :(

Guess what I wore?
No the denim on the right isn't mine.

We had 7 likes and 1 active hate. People who said I looked nice (or something along those lines): miss acc, mr events (who does sometimes say nice things), office lady, girl in law (said she likes my style :P no I don't dress-up all the time, just fortnightly?) and ms events who liked the colour coordination (she herself has good taste in colours). And then we got some hates, one muslim girl looked disgusted, a few other females did too but not to the same extent. And then there were guys who looked away. XD A guy from eco (why does everyone remember me from eco?!) smiled at me (as he and all the guys from eco do when they see me) blew me a kiss! Oh wow no one's ever done that before.

What they were meant to look like.

What they ended looking like.

Oreo Cupcakes. Unexpectedly almost everyone is watching their weight, so the frosted half wasn't as popular. People who said yes (no frosting): miss acc, mr events, mr maths (who knows my name and remembers it!). Mr law picked the frosted one. :) Mr IT almost said yes, I was working on persuading him (the unfrosted ones are healthy(ier)) but he sensed I was winning and ran off. :P Gave extra cupcakes to a nice girl in events (she'd been in my marketing class last yr), guy from the treasure hunt we did (yes we won), and a little girl who was crying.

Mr IT is super nice and friendly and helped me look for mr mob (it turned out he doesn't have an office there, but used to) which involved looking up stuff on the computer and asking others, which meant getting up and out of his office. :P We found out he was at his office (somewhere else) and in online meetings. I'll make more cupcakes for mr mob and theatre people next week. :)

Not much happened in class. Events revision + Q break-down, which I'm finding a bit hard. Law exam prep, so stressed out! We need to make lots and lots of notes and draw diagrams. So much work, so little time! Wished we had a month to prepare.

Unexpectedly saw Austin and had a panic attack, and I'm on the ground, meanwhile he flies fast walks past. Was going to ask him about that time he pretty much laughed when I got a Q wrong but freaked out and didn't. Left him a cupcake instead, w/o really talking to him. He didn't smile or say anything when I spoke to him, but he did acknowledge I was there and didn't see through me. One day I'll ask him all the questions. In a few years perhaps.

After class we went to the library to look for that one book we need for law that everyone's after. None left, though I've ordered one from NSW, but it might come too late for the exam. Spent an hour looking for the damn thing, unhelpful librarian! I prefer the other library, where there's two very friendly guys who always help us look for books.

Monday Baking - Oreo Cupcakes V2. @ Monday, May 27, 2013

19th May

sick day. Day 5 spent in bed. No work was done. Went to church for a sermon, it was boring. The guy had no idea what he was going to talk about and asked for a topic, improv. Tonight's topic was anger. A woman in the audience asked how to get a certain man in her life to stop watching porn. The speaker said to post about it on his fb, to publicly shame him. Though I think that could potentially be the way to meet swingers. XD The only reason I went was because I was paid to - in candy. ;)

It's possible that the number of classes missed is starting to outweigh the number of classes attended. :(

Round One
It did not rise at all.

Made Oreo Cupcakes. Round 2. More SR, less Plain flour. No mixer (couldn't find the attachment). Different oven, jas was right it took 16mins to bake. It rose! O.O Last time with 3/4c SR it didn't this time with +1/4c more it did... IV & DV r'ship? Nope, too many extraneous variables.

Round Two - Unfrosted
It rose! I think it was the oven that did it, and method.

Yes I did cut off the top for the frosted ones.

While the cake was great. Light & Fluffy! The cream cheese frosting wasn't... less is more when it comes to oreo (dust) crumbs in the icing. Too much and it looks like sludge. Is that a word? Yes. Think cement but yucky in colour. Fortunately I could hide it was rainbow sprinkles! And other pretty things.

Oh and that one that looks like soil/dirt, that's oreo dust. I was experimenting. Half the cakes aren't iced cause I assume half my lecturers are diabetic potentially, or health conscious.

The Process - Chopping Oreos

This is the lightest & fluffiest cupcakes I've ever made. Hand mixed it.
Where is the recipie you ask? I'll be sharing it after round 3, next week. :P

Moisturizer Samplings @ Friday, May 24, 2013

Recently I finished my HG Moisturizer, Clinque's DDML and while I love it, and probably will repurchase it (hopefully from Sephora ;) for now I'll be trying out a whole lot of samples that I've accumulated over the years. Here's a preview of upcoming reviews, since taking these pictures I've also added a few Jurlique and Kiehl's moisturizers to the stash. Also as I'm looking for a new eye cream they'll be reviews on that, at the moment I quite like L'Occitane's Divine Eyes.

By the way, my skin type is highly sensitive dry/normal combo leaning more towards the dry side. After I cleanse or take a bath my skin is like a fish out of water.

Have you tried any of the creams pictured?

What's your HG moisturizer and eye cream?

Happy Lab = Science + Candy @ Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Last Wednesday Chadstone had a VIP Night, they're always on Wednesdays, though on this particular wed I didn't have my accounting class. Lots of stores had offers, unfortunately that excluded Bras 'n' Things. :( But Happy Lab had 40% off! With so many people around there wasn't really much room to browse, but we did get a few things. :)

My first encounter with Happy Lab was at a Westfield, where Freud & I stopped for lunch on our way to visiting his college a couple/few hours away. It looks like a mad scientists' dream, candy in test tubes. Jelly beans, chocolates, lollipops and gummies, are a few of the things they sell.

As there was too many people, and it was scary I didn't get any pictures.
So here's one from Edge Concepts, who designs store layouts and the space.

Pop Corn - uncle sam's finest
cinnamon bun & something mint 8.00
This was amazing! Regret not buying more.

fudgees - salted caramel
you can't fudge a real french kiss
Little Black Box 100g 8.00

barrista praline pastilles 9.00
They charged me for two of these when I bought one!
HQ/O said to go back to the store for a refund, but I live very far away.

Pots of Gummies 2.00 each
The apple juice was great, though too sweet.
Grape bears were meh.

belgian chocolate chip - square block 75g 4.50
Cruella Deville's favourite taste of happiness

ny cheesecake - square block 75g 4.50
have a slice of happiness - new york style
Melts in your mouth just like Kinder Bars.

chocolate therapy pops - lick your way to happiness
vanilla snowball & mint swirl 3.50 each

Lovely Dovelys
Heart gummies. Made in china.
Didn't like these. Freebies as they expired the next day.

Have you ever been to the Happy Lab?
