Jasongrech High Tea Salon Show - Part 2 @ Monday, September 30, 2013 Jasongrech High Tea Salon Show Part 2 - The Food Lemon Meringue - A mini soft baguette with barely cooked beef - Berry Jam & Cream Scone - Peach Crumble - Chicken Sandwich - Peanut Butter Cup! - Cherry Tomato & Cheese Tart Along with the display of sweet treats in front of us there was also a cute buffet. But first we shall talk about the "3 tiers". The savory consisted of three things: Chicken Sandwich, Cherry Tomato & Cheese Tart and a mini soft baguette with barely cooked beef. The first two were really good, the third none of us ate. Though I did nibble at it - it was chewy. The scones was very nice, though would have been better served warm and with a dish of cream/jam so we can spread on how much we preferred (not enough IMO).
Cherry Tomato & Cheese Tart
A Peach Crumble, Lemon Meringue and Peanut Butter Cup Tart was on the next tier (I know the scone is on the top and you eat from the bottom up, but I prefer it this way, that way the sweets don't overpower the scone). The peach crumble was lovely and crumbled literally Lily said you're meant to eat that one in one bit. We all loved the Lemon Meringue. Though le beau's favourite was the PB Cup Tart, a surprise as it had a Reese's PB Cup inside!
Can you see the peanut cup?
Onto the buffet, there was five different macarons, raspberry candy (the jelly type), some other party favour bag candy, Pascal's choc covered marshmallows packaged caramel popcorn and Nestle's Cookies & Cream Milky Bar. We started with the white one was vanilla & olive, too faint in our opinion. The orange was salted caramel nice but once again the salted caramel filling didn't have that kick that La Belle Mitte had. Pink was raspberry, I like it, the shell was perfect (most were). Green was pistachio and the the cafe au lait one wasn't hazelnut chocolate as predicted It was coffee, and by coffee I mean espresso! Wow it was strong! Lots like no one's going to be sleeping tonight. Tea, coffee and orange juice was offered by the two waiters who went around. Interestingly they missed us (and only us) is it because I'm American? Le beau soon asked for chamomile for Lily and orange juice for me (w/o me asking) I love it how he knows what I like. While tea was happening Alison Mayfield the photographer came around to chat to us. She highly recommended doing engagement photos with a photographer to see if you like them before you hire them for the wedding. We have already planned this, though want to have the shoot within a year or two of the wedding. It seems everyone is a bit O.o that we've started preparing the wedding so early, well I do like to plan. This way we can get dibs on the venue and first choice in everything.
Before the tea was served was the Bridal Show, which will be the next post.

Jasongrech High Tea Salon Show - Part 1 @ Sunday, September 29, 2013 Since I took a billion pictures there shall be three posts on the "Jasongrech High Tea Salon Show". Deco, food and the dresses. Also I'm trying something new with the picture editing instead of rounded corners I've leaving them sharp - don't really like it for single pictures, but I love it on the collages. Part 1 - Deco As a part of le beau's birthday we went to the 'Jasongrech High Tea Salon Show' though I do admit that I enjoyed it more than he did, Lily also joined us (and it made me look like the 3rd wheel... but it's ok, I'm getting used to it). Lily came as my MOH though and she really wanted to see the collection.
The venue was the Glasshouse at QV. Best to take the tram to Bourke St and walk.
I've never tried paper straws before, but I think I prefer the plastic ones.
Each seating had a bridal magazine (Bride or Destination) and MOR lip balm. Between the three of us we got 3/4 flavours (missed the teal).
MOR Lip Macron - Lychee
Lychee, Blood Orange, Apple. Main ingredient: Mineral oil/petroleum jelly. That can't be good. :( Metal tin = you can't microwave it to liquidate it to transfer it into a tube. Pot = unhygienic restricted to use in the bathroom only. I like the novelty of it, but as I wouldn't actually use it and neither would le beau (we both love Burt's Bees) Lily got all three. There was also Sorbet but we didn't get that one. I wonder if it's lemony.
I love MOR's styling for their ads.
We also received an envelop of cards from sponsors, including a 20% card for MOR Online ($5 flat shipping) and a card for free cupcake/tea at a later date. My cup, saucer and plate was dusty... There were some roses on the table which wasn't so fresh in a fugly vase (in my opinion). Fortunately the deco of the whole place was much prettier. There were these coconut balls hanging from the roof, $50 each in case you're interested.
Not my picture.
A bouquet. I'd love this in red, but bigger, circled with baby's breath
and each rose studded with diamonates.
Lily loved these little vases, not sure if she asked where we can buy them.
Will ask when we go to tea there later this week.
Each table had different flowers. It was quite pretty, I saw flowers I've never seen before.
The event was so pretty!
Sunday in the City @ Saturday, September 28, 2013
We found the Lyon St cello guy outside Melbourne Central.
A new dessert place, ice cream, at QV. Hope they're open late. Btw frozen yoghurt (froyo) isn't any less fattening than ice cream, it often contains the same amount of sugar, and is only marketed to be healthier.
Living Statue at Flinders
Never seen this one before, they normally live on Bourke St outside Myer/DJ.
I do believe this is the same person as the white lady.
We stopped by the shops on the way to the station after tea. Lily found a birdcage eye-level veil at Lovisa for $5, and I came across a multi-chain/layered necklace. Meanwhile le beau entertained himself at Typo. At Kikki I bought a monthly 2014 diary so I can a slim calendar in my bag as well as at my desk. I don't use a diary, instead I use a mini wall calender. Need a new notebook too, as my leather one is out of paper and refill cost almost as much as buying a new one. My new faux "wine" as I try not to drink - bad things happen when I do... We tried this at the Food & Wine Show, but being accident prone it wasn't a good idea to carry a glass bottle around. Magazines from the High Tea. Weddings are all about spending, when promoted it seems that way, though I prefer to start with the budget and go a little DIY. And alternatives to make things cheaper/more worth it e.g. silk flowers, no/little floral centerpieces - try mirrors & candles instead, or a floating candle/flower in a fish bowl. Unfortunately this stuff isn't really promoted. I'd love to go to a DIY Bridal Expo.
Great Gatsby 20s Jazz Cocktail Party - Part 2 @ Friday, September 27, 2013
Proof there was people at the event. :P
The Venue
The 3rd room/area was curtained off...
... where we had a photo area.
Flash featured a lot. - Not my idea.
Yes we do find these chairs fascinating. :P
The party ended/died at 10.30pm after the raffle winners were announced.
All packed up. Wished le beau was here to dance with me.
I got to bring home the balloons for Lucy.:)
YOLO was quite popular, so was drawings of p....
Downstairs. Isn't it lovely?
I do like chandeliers.
We got the venue w/o charge, though had to spend $1,000 on the bar.
Have you ever planned an event and hired a venue, or attended a Gatsby cocktail?
